HELP ME WIN THIS RACE
Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Supporters,
My name is Marvina Jenkins and I am reaching out with a humble yet urgent request. On November 1, 2023, I was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Hearing the words "your kidneys are failing" was devastating, and beginning dialysis was a life-changing moment. As I sat connected to the dialysis machine, reality set in—I could not imagine spending the rest of my life this way. The exhaustion, the inability to work, the limited time with my loved ones, and missing out on the vibrant life I once knew—it became clear that I needed to fight for something more.
And so, I chose to fight.
I am blessed with an incredible support system—my loving children, family, devoted friends, and a mentor who has stepped up to help me through this journey. I have acted by applying to several kidney transplant centers, including Emory University Hospital (Atlanta, GA), Georgetown University Hospital (DC), Johns Hopkins (MD), Medical University Hospital (Charleston, SC), and Duke University Hospital (Durham, NC). After a long and challenging wait, I am grateful to share that I have been placed on Emory’s transplant list.
Now, I need your help.
A transplant is not just a medical procedure—it’s a second chance at life. However, the financial burden is overwhelming. Many of the medications I will need post-transplant will not be fully covered by insurance, and some I will require for the rest of my life. If my transplant takes place out of state, I will be responsible for covering housing, transportation, and caregiving expenses for 4-6 months while I recover near the hospital. My financial resources are limited, and I cannot do this alone.
I am asking for your support in any way you can give, through monetary donations. Every dollar brings me one step closer to the healthy, fulfilling life I am fighting for.
If you would like to contribute, you can make monetary donations through my GoFundMe.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. With your help, I can win this race.
With love and gratitude,
Marvina Jenkins
