Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
My name is Jakub (Kuba) Tuk, and I am reaching out on behalf of Brandon Shaff, my partner, and a beloved and dedicated educator who recently suffered a severe third-degree burn in a freak kitchen explosion. While this injury is not life-threatening, it is serious and carries a high risk of infection. Brandon has been hospitalized since the incident, where he is currently receiving intensive care. He will undergo at least two surgeries before he is released, and his recovery journey will be long and challenging.
Brandon’s work is not just a job; it’s a calling. He dedicates his life to working in the community with young adults with a wide variety of disabilities, many of whom require physical assistance, including lifting, to navigate their daily activities. This work, which often involves close physical contact and the potential for exposure to infections, means that Brandon will likely take longer to be medically cleared to return to work.
Being out of work for an extended period means Brandon will face significant financial hardships, including medical expenses, daily living costs, and other unforeseen expenses that come with recovery. The extended recovery time is especially concerning given the critical role he plays in the lives of his students.
We are starting this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the financial burden on Brandon so he can focus on what’s most important—healing and getting back to his students, who are deeply missing his guidance and care.
Any contribution, big or small, will make a tremendous difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your network would be greatly appreciated. Together, we can help Brandon get back on his feet and return to doing what he loves most—supporting and inspiring young adults with disabilities.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Love, Kuba
