Kolumba's Medical Fund

Hello, I hope this reaches all of Johns family, all of my family, all of Johns Chi Sig brothers, everyone from Johns football team, everyone from church, everyone from Harding (everyone who was at Harding knows "Kolumba"), everyone he knows in Texas, everyone from Missouri. This is Sharon, John's wife, and HE NEEDS YOUR HELP, PLEASE.  John has been fighting this illness since the second week of December when the flu started, then the day after Christmas this awful thing happened to him: Cellulitis.  John is diabetic and came down with flu the second week of December. Not being able to afford to see the doctor, fighting his symptoms with otc medicines, his immune system was low and two weeks into being sick, the redness started. I immediately began icepacks, binding, and elevating his leg above the heart; but despite all that, within 2 days his right leg was covered in blisters and looked like this:

He was in Tidlands Waccamaw Hospital for 7 days, he almost lost his foot or worse his leg below the knee, and we've been told that it will be up to a year to heal. The top of the foot, right below his toes has a large wound that is open down to and exposing the bones of his toes, and its possible this will also happen at the back on the calf as the skin dies and takes chunks of flesh with it when it has to be removed. Since we have no health insurance, Tidelands has a wonderful financial aid program that covered all of his hospital stay. However, the next year, with wound care center visits, infectious diseases specialists doctors, medication etc., and just not being able to work to pay the utility bills is what we are asking for you help with.

One thing I can tell you about my husband - he has ALWAYS had a job, one time up to three jobs. However, as you all know, John and I have struggled with our income for the past three years as taxi driving (a cash only business) got more, and more difficult for John to earn a living at (including no health coverage).  When he came down sick, he was actually in the process of training for a new job with an insurance company and getting his licenses updated. Plus, since the company I was working for closed its doors to business, I myself have no employment, and two years of trying to find a job that I can do, after having had my heart attack and now have some disabilities of my own, has been near impossible to find.  Although, I just found a part-time work from home job that I hope to start soon (please pray that it happens). Which is good because John needs my help at home. John worked all of November, but only one week of December because of getting sick.  A tally of our income for these past 2 months-Dec., and Nov 2015 was only about $500 total.  We still haven't caught up on our utilities and may loose them any day now.  Our children have been helping as much as they can, but, they can only do so much. Any donations will be greatly appreciated, and will be needed immediately because there is medicine he needs that we could not afford, and he has the apt. coming up with the infectious diseases specialist real soon, not to mention the past due utilities. I will deduct my estimated income from the needed donation once I see that I am getting the job. Plus, we have filed for disability for John, and Medicaid, and will deduct those earnings, if and when they come through (we've been told disability takes a looong time to be processed.   Thank you in advance, and please let me know if you have any questions. You can email me anytime.
