Peak Divide Ultra Marathon for CALM
After losing a couple people close to me from Suicide in the past 2 months, I know more needs to be done to help prevent this outcome; as well as support those grieving. CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is a UK-based charity focused on preventing suicide, especially among men completing essential work in offering life saving help.
Any funds raised through this challenge will go directly to them supporting their incredible work.
As a young man under 50, my most common cause of death will be suicide, with 83 people worldwide taking their own lives an hour, which is so much more than a statistic, these are Dads, Mums, Partners, Friends and more. A statistic which is bound to worsen before I complete this run.
This run will pass completely through the Peak District with a total elevation over 5,500ft and 50 miles of total running. It will start in the centre of Manchester finishing in Endcliffe Park Sheffield with a night spent in Edale.
