Evan's Support - Evan Schumacher

Donation protected
Evan's Support is a non-profit organization to assist a family going through a medical crisis, our two unique causes are:  1.Providing functional, comfortable, and supportive furniture to medical facilities for families who must stay on hospital grounds, 2. Assisting in the writing and/or publishing of a child's obituary (18 years of age or younger)

Evan's Support started after the death of our son Evan Vincent Schumacher in February from compilations from bacterial tracheitis. through all the sadness we are remembering his compassion and love by starting Evan's Support.

Our first goal of the charity, is to provide hospitals with comfortable and sleepable furniture for family and friends of a loved one who is fighting. Our furniture that we want to design is meant to be slept on by people like us, we were never going to leave that hospital, or his side. We are concerned with ICU, PICU, NICU and any other part of hospitals where people spend long nights being supportive and concerned. How this part started is when we were in the hospital for Evan, we didn't leave and couldn't leave. But it's so hard to find somewhere where you can find a place that is comfortable enough to sleep on. The hospital staff at Sandford's children's hospital was all that you could hope for and more, they fought as hard as they could for Evan. We want hospitals to be concerned about taking care of the patients and not the visitor. We want to help them. When we left the hospital, we were exhausted, emotional and physically felt like we we're in a car accident, hopefully we can take some stress off the people that help a fighter, fight.

Our second goal is to help bereaved parents write their child's life story(obituary), give them a gift of beautiful words. Words that can help envision a child as they truly were, bring comfort in the months to come, and to give others a glimpse of what the world is going to miss out on now that they're gone. We have been focusing on this more as of late, partly because of cost, and partly because it's going to be hard to find the brilliant, compassionate people to write and edit. So far our message is getting out, and some truly magnificent writers have steeped forward, they wrote so well that I wanted them to write my own life story. If you are interested in being a writer or editor for Evan's Support, email [email redacted], and read our previous post on Facebook and articles, they paint the picture of what we are asking. We are looking for writer from all over the US, we will never stop looking for writers. Evan's life story can be viewed at Evanssupport.com
