Roy's Top Surgery: Give an angel his wings

Dear friends, family, and whoever else wound up here looking at this fundraiser (I appreciate you, beautiful stranger, and please stick around to read or share!)

The Goal: Fly back home to Michigan to receive top surgery from Dr. Wolf, and be able to recover with family.

The Obstacles: I have a number of chronic and degenerative conditions, so a fair amount of my income goes towards necessary medical expenses... and I expect those expenses to increase as my diseases steadily progress. As you can imagine, this has made it difficult to save for surgery all on my own. I've looked into ways to get it done in Japan and paid for by NHI, but no dice. So that leaves only private practices where I will be responsible for the full cost.

The Plea: With my inescapable health trajectory always in mind... I've realized I have limited time to enjoy living comfortably in this body as my true, awakened self. It's some real cruel irony, that it took me 23 years to become self-aware enough to claim this body as my own, and just as I resolve to do so, it decides to begin an accelerated process of degeneration.

I can't wait anymore. I need this surgery. To feel whole. To feel home. I need to live. I need to shine! While I still can.

The pandemic has stolen time from us all, but it has not stolen it equally. For those of us with clocks ticking faster, it has inflicted disproportionate loss. I've never been great at self-advocacy, so deciding to ask for help like this, in such an amount, has been difficult. But... I simply cannot do this alone. I need your help.
