Help Royce: Student in Debt to Stay Housed
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Royce Lee, and I am in an emergency financial situation where I owe UC Davis (a university I was rescinded from) a sum of money (approximately $3,300 in debt) due to not getting enough financial aid.
Expenses are mainly from dorming for 2 months over the summer, which should have been covered, though I was not able to get into a certain class affecting my amount of aid. Currently, I am a community college after UC Davis rescinded me and I had to fully move away from my home in LA at the age of 21. I am a student relying on financial aid here for food and rent mainly. I was also working 2 jobs at one point, but they both fired me despite my best efforts. One was a boba tea shop where I already had experience, and the other place was a Hot Pot restaurant busser. I was able to pay 400$ off of my UC Davis debt so far after a debt collector called Reliant Capitol Solutions kept calling for me to make a payment plan.
I currently am located in Davis, California, and am 2 months behind on my rent of $575 monthly (a total of $1,150 behind), in which I share a room with a student. My credit card is almost maxed out from living necessities, and I borrowed some money from my father as well to help with this. I am actively searching for jobs (mostly minimum wage based on my experience and still being a student), though a place has not hired me yet. I have been applying to places online and in person, handing in a resume. I did also try filing for unemployment benefits, which should help a little. I am anticipating some more financial aid for the summer, however it definitely is not enough. This is my last resort, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
