Royce Brown unexpectedly passed away on the morning of December 6th, 2023. Royce was born in Russell KS on May 28th 1954, he was 69 years old.
Our father, Royce Brown, was a legend with a heart of pure gold. There are not many people you meet in your life that can put a smile on your face the way our father could. Throughout the years Royce was known by many to be the guy you could call during a tough time for a shoulder to lean on; he was Mr. Reliable. Royce lived a life dedicated to love and laughter. Our old man had a laugh that echoed through a room like a 30-06 rifle being fired out of a deer blind on a chilly December morning. His positive attitude and quick-witted jokes could cheer anyone up at any time. He always made it a point to remind everyone to SMILE.
For those of you who don't know, dad spent his last few days hunting deer with his oldest son Casey. He left this world in peace doing what he loved. The three of us boys were the luckiest children on the planet. Our father was our hero, he was always there for his sons. Our lives will never be the same without him and we will truly miss his smile, words of wisdom and sense of humor. No matter where in the world life took us three boys our father made it clear that he was proud of the men we have become.
Smile…such a simple thing in life that many of us forget to do. Over the past several days we have cried a lot over the loss of our father, but we have laughed and smiled more because the positive memories of dad far outweigh the sudden and unexpected loss of him. On a few occasions in our lives, one of us could be mad as hell at the old man but he would crack a joke to make you laugh and say “dang it Dad we are trying to be mad at you!” It was impossible. Many of our childhood friends viewed dad as a second father because he was so good to all of them. Many of you might have viewed him as a brother, a father figure or a friend and while we all are grieving his loss remember that he would want you to smile! So, smile while you remember Royce Brown!
A celebration of Royce’s life in Colorado is currently being planned with the date & location still to be determined. We will be sure to announce the date and time to everyone as soon as we know. There was no time to plan for this unexpected loss of our father. All donations received will be used to help the family for unforeseen expenses.
Royce Brown is survived by his three brothers Daryl, Ron, and Myron Brown. Three sons Casey, Ryan, and Trevor Brown. Three Grandchildren Ashtyn, Rowan, and Benjamin Brown. And his hunting dog Maggie, who has been welcomed into the home of his eldest son Casey.
