Roy OBrien’s Vet and Cremation Costs

On June 9th, 2024, I brought home a 11-year-old cat named Fitz(Roy) who completely changed my life. He was loud, dramatic, unbelievably affectionate - and a little pain in the ass - but I loved him more than anything.

He followed me everywhere, love nipped a little too hard, would beg to be picked up, and insisted on sleeping on top of me, no matter where I was. He also curled up beside me on his orange blanket every night, purred the second I touched him, and made me laugh every single day. He was full of personality and love, and even in the short time we had together, he became my best friend.

A few days ago, he got really sick really fast. I was away with family on vacation, and my roommate was taking care of him in my time away. He was rushed to the emergency vet late at night, but he didn’t make it. He passed at home with the company of his chaotic brother Otis, and my amazing roommate Miles, who I am so fortunate to have taken care of Roy in his last days. We later found out he passed because of pancreatic complications, which inevitably would have taken him regardless of treatment. I decided to have him cremated so I could keep him close to me forever.

The emergency visit, meds and cremation cost is $1,500, which is a lot for me (a university student who pays my own expenses during the summer). So if you’re able to help in any way - by donating or even sharing - it would mean the world to me.

He was chaotic and sweet and endlessly special. I miss him more than words can say.
