Roy Kuipers house fire

January 6 update: Roy had a 3-hour surgery this morning for debridement and skin grafting to his dislocated left arm, and lower extremities. The surgery went well and hope to be home next week with continued wound care and physical therapy.

Roy’s house was a total devastation. The cold front with strong wind contributed to how fast and hot the fire got. Glass and windows were melted, and the ashes were still steaming the next day. Everything is lost, so will need funds to replace contents in addition to the increase costs of construction that may not be adequately covered by insurance. 

January 3: As some of you may have heard, Roy and his son Johann Kuipers’ house burned down on January 1, 2022. Both Roy and Johann and their dog Huskin escaped from the fire and are doing ok. 

Roy Kuipers and Kathy Kuipers (who passed away in 2020), have been-long time officials of RACE in North Texas supporting our athletes. Kathy was the Meet referee for Greater Southwest in 2020. Roy has worked many swim meets including most recently the COR Classic.

As friends of Roy and Kathy, we are asking for support to help Roy and Johann for medical expenses and other expenses to rebuild their house. Your support is very much appreciated. Thank you!
