Good Afternoon Friends and Family,

Roy and I are deeply moved as we watch how faithful our friends and family have been in donating money to help us in this critical time of need! We wish we had time to respond to each of you individually, and perhaps at a later time, we can, but for now, we want everyone to know how precious you are and how grateful and humbled we are at your response!

We are thankful to our wonderful friend Julie Sandeen for organizing this GoFundMe. Julie is a Pastor at our church, which we attend in Santa Clarita, Ca. Julie will be managing these donations in a particular savings account and partnering with us to disburse the funds needed for Roy's ongoing daily care and medical needs.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Roy and our future place to live, as we need to move out of our current house in the next 30 days! Roy has been making excellent progress on his hip replacement surgery. He has developed shoulder inflammation, which has stifled his ability to do daily exercises, which are crucial for both the hip and Parkinson's mobility.

Hello Friends and Family,

My name is Julie Sandeen, and I am writing on behalf of Roy and Jeannette Edwards. Shortly after the pandemic forced them to return to the States after five years in China at an international school, Roy began to experience some frightening medical symptoms. These included often losing his balance, the ability to play his guitar and speech impairment. After over a year of worsening symptoms, tests, and doctor’s appointments, Roy was finally diagnosed with Parkinson’s Plus in March 2021. Parkinson's is an illness that attacks the brain and nerve cells.

On Sept 2nd Roy fell on a family beach trip due to Parkinson’s, weakening his left side and breaking his left femur. He underwent a partial hip replacement and is currently recovering at home.

Jeannette needs to continue working full-time to provide for the family, but Roy needs daily care that is not covered by insurance or Medicare. So we are looking to raise funds to help pay for professional home health care 3-4 days a week (cost starts at $25/hr) and to help offset any other uncovered medical expenses.

The Edwards have spent nearly their entire lives serving others: including; on the mission field in Europe for 12 years, in the local church, and teaching and leading others in China. Now it is our turn to help serve them! Any donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated, and, as always, please continue to pray for them and Roy’s health during this difficult time.
