Remembering Coach Roy Ching with Aloha
Donation protected
"Always give without remembering and always receive without forgetting." --Brian Tracy
This quote sums up our dear friend, father, grandfather, uncle and beloved coach, Roy Ching. According to his eldest daughter Robin, Coach Roy passed peacefully surrounded by his Ohana on Monday, February 5, 2024. In the spirit of kokua (help and assistance), we are trying to raise funds to defray the costs of his services.
If you knew Roy, he was a giver. He exuded aloha (love) in all he did and certainly was a man that lived an amazing life who inspired so many. Roy was the founder of Kalani Outrigger Canoe Club here in The Bay and the founder of Club Kalani Volleyball where he mentored and inspired so many as a coach. He was an old time Hawaiian musician that performed alongside many of the Bay Area players and Kumu. While his mother originally from Maui, Roy was raised on Oahu. He performed with Aunty Aida Gonsalves and her Halau and would perform at Trader Vic's - Emeryville with the likes of fellow Alameda resident Hanalei Bray and Duchy Guerrero.
The family is requesting help to defray costs for Roy's services. We will always remember his generous spirit, positive energy and loving smile. Please consider making a donation as we continue to keep his Ohana in our thoughts and prayers. The Celebration of Roy's life is planned on March 23. Please consider a donation by March 15. Thank you.
