Lt. Roy Ackley Medical Fund

Roy Ackley is the Security Desk Lieutenant at Portland City Hall. He has been a part of the Team providing Security for City Employees since 2002. We'll tell you more about him below. But the reason for this page is to raise funds to help Roy with something much more personal. Roy has been battling Diabetes for many years. It has been a courageous battle but one that has not been easy. Diabetes has taken a toll on Roy's body, leading to the decline of his heart and kidney functions.   He recently found out his kidneys are failing quickly. One of his kidneys is in almost complete failure and the other kidney has only 20% function remaining. His team of Doctors have advised him he must begin life-saving dialysis three days a week. In addition to this, Roy has been struggling to afford the medications necessary to treat his diabetes and heart condition.  

The cost of the dialysis and medications, as well as expected medical leave beyond what he has on the books, far exceed the resources Roy has at his disposal. We'd like to alleviate some of this burden so that Roy can focus on his weekly treatments and continuing medical care for his other conditions. 

Roy was in the Navy, assigned to the U.S.S. Blue Ridge Amphibius Command Ship; 7th Fleet from 1975-1979.    From 1982-1986 Roy was stationed at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas Nevada,  where he assisted in training an Air Force Security Team.   Roy has been on the Security Team for almost 12 years. He is always taking care of the Officers like they're family. Now we'd like to return the favor.
