Roxy Blue ♥️ needs surgery
Donation protected
Hi friends. It’s excruciating for me to have to write this and ask for help but after seeking every other option, it has come to this.
If you know me, then you know my dog Roxy. She is a 10 year old English Setter who is also a trained and certified ADA recognized PTSD support dog for me. Those of you that have met her, know she is the kindest, sweetest, most beautiful best friend I have.
I have just been told that she needs a very expensive surgery which is literally breaking my heart. She has been diagnosed with IVDD.
Intervertebral Disc Disease, also known as IVDD, is a spinal disorder that is caused by the herniation of an intervertebral disc. There is a thick, gelatinous substance called the intervertebral disc is located between the bones of your dog's spine and serves as a shock absorber. When the intervertebral disc is herniated, it can result in a concussion or compression of your pup's spinal cord. This often causes debilitating and lasting damage. A patient who is rated anywhere from 1-4 on that scale is expected to make a full recovery in 90% of cases. This number severely drops to 50% or even 60% when operating on a grade 5 case of IVDD in dogs. Roxy is a stage 4.
All-inclusive, the cost of surgical treatment for IVDD can land anywhere within a range of $4000-$8000 dollars.
When it comes to intervertebral disc disease, the sooner treatment starts the better.
Unfortunately, The insurance that I do have for her does not cover the surgery. It will be out of pocket and I am wanting to do this sooner than later due to it worsening with time. I can cover $5000 at this time so I am asking for $3000 to cover any additional costs.
If her surgery ends up coming in under $8000, I will be more than happy to send your donation back or I will be donating it to the ASPCA.
I know times are tight right now, so any amount would be greatly appreciated. I am absolutely devastated and would never ask for help unless it was a dire situation. Thank you in advance for your generosity, prayers, and any good juju you can send her way.
Much love and gratitude.
