Roxi's Medical Bills

Donation protected

If you're a friend of the family, or you know us Veldman ladies at all, you know that we've had a few dogs for the last decade or so, who have all been family. Growing up with me, making the move from California to Texas, and back, as well as being featured in the background of numerous youtube videos of mine. It was us five Veldman girls for years. Over the past couple of years, unfortunately they all had to make their journey to heaven, with the last addition to the angels being our sweet Roxi. On August 31st, 2019 we went to the vet emergency hospital noticing that Roxi hadn't eaten for a couple of days and had some blood in her urine. Along with that we noticed her stomach had grown twice the size in a matter of a day or so. After some very expensive tests, the results came back that she had a tumor in her stomach that seemed to be filling with blood or fluid, which would explain why it had gotten so big so fast, and why she wasn't eating. After talking over our options, and many hours, and many tears, we knew that the best option was to make sure she wasn't going to be in pain any longer. We wanted what was best for our sweet girl and we know we did what was right. I am just thankful that I was able to be home to spend time with Roxi and my mom, say goodbye, and hold her in my arms as she crossed to the other side. With my move to Florida being a week from writing this up, and with Roxi's diabetes, and wavering health over the last few years, my biggest fear was to be away when she passed.

Unfortunately along with the terrible loss of our family member, came a large unexpected cost. A night that took a very an extremely unexpected turn, turned out to put a massive burden in our finances. For the cost of the vet emergency visit, blood work, ultrasound, the final procedure and private cremation, the bill came out to about 900 dollars. 900 dollars that we didn't exactly have, but you do what you need to do when it comes to family. We pull from places and bring it all together to make it work.

Of course, we don't expect anything from anyone, but figured it wouldn't hurt to put this out there, to see if anyone would be willing to help offset our costs, by a few dollars here and there. I also wanted to note thatif this sounds familair, its becasue two years ago, when Roxi was first diagnosed with diabetes, and her along with Shelby, our other dog, had a mountian of medical issues all hit at once. These dogs that very perfectly healthy their whole lives suddenly became the polar opposite, which gave us about 2,000-3,000 in vet bills at the time. Although that GoFundMe wasnt "successful" in reaching its goal, all the money that was raised helped us so much, and meant so much, along with gifts that were given in person.

With that being said, thank you so much for reading this. Taking the time to even hear our story means so much to my mom and I. We loved all of our dogs so dearly, and Roxi was one of the best dogs I have ever met. Everyone instantly fell in love with her. Even as we were being checked into the emergency hospital, one of the nurses, and the doctor both commented on how lovable she was. Roxi has been there with me so much through my life, and as well as my mom. My mom has taken care of her while I was away at college, and for the past two years since her diabetes diagnosis. Giving her insulin shots twice a day, something I could never even stomach to do, my mom toughed it out, for our Roxi, to make sure she was healthy. I'll miss Roxi forever. It still feels like a horrible nightmare. Loss isn't easy. It doesn't get easier. However hard it is, I'll always be able to look back at videos and pictures of her and smile, and be thankful that this dog was my dog, and apart of my family.

We will miss you forever sweet girl,

Thank you for your time, and thank you for even entertaining the idea of helping us out.

With love,
