Gary's Memorial Fund

Anyone who knows Roxanne, knows her heart is the size of a dinner plate! She sacrifices sleep, food, blood, sweat and tears, all in the name of her beautiful puppies which she nurses to become the best possible new family members for all of us.
Roxanne keeps us all rolling on the floor with her stories of life on her little farm in Kansas. We’ve laughed with her as her pet Cow would pin her against the fence or her rooster was attacking her ankles, but now it’s time to cry with her.
Roxanne’s husband Gary,  of 24 years has been by her side through all of her adventures. Gary struggled with diabetes and unfortunately he would get bad sores that would not heal. In 2015, he lost his lower right leg. Gary worked hard to become mobile again although he wasn’t able to work full time anymore. Unfortunately it wasn’t long after that, when Gary developed another horrible sore on his good foot. He spent months going to a wound care center. It was difficult for him to walk steady on his prosthetic with the sore on the other foot and therefore he kept falling over and hitting his head.
Last week, it was a regular day at the Poodle Palace Ranch. Roxanne woke up and began her round of chores, while Gary sat up in bed for a few extra minutes. Twenty minutes later when Roxanne came back inside she went to their bedroom to see where he was. Roxanne found Gary lying on the floor, unconscious, having tried to transfer himself from the bed to his wheelchair.  Roxanne dialed 911 and the operator gave her specific instructions on how to perform CPR on Gary. It took 30 grueling minutes for the paramedics to arrive. Thirty long minutes of single handedly performing CPR on her beloved husband. The paramedics spent an additional hour trying to revive Gary with no success.
Now it’s time to rally around our dear friend Roxanne. She has no family in Kansas. No one to stop by and check on her, no one to drop a meal off. She needs our support now more than ever.
Roxanne is too proud to ask any of us for a dime, and Gary of course thought he would live another twenty years. He was able to collect a modest disability check, and they made do. He never wanted to leave her with nothing, but unfortunately that is exactly what has happened. The coroner ruled Gary’s death as a cardiac arrest which is not ruled accidental. Gary only carried accidental life insurance. Therefore Roxanne will receive no life insurance money. Zero. Zilch. She will receive a death benefit of $285.00. Yep. That’s it. That won’t even begin to cover his final expenses.
Roxanne needs us, people. She has brought happiness and laughter to hundreds of families. It’s our turn to help her. Please consider even a small donation, more if you can, so we can help Roxanne survive this awful ordeal. Without our help, she may lose her home and her precious Poodle Palace.   Let’s show her how much we love her.
