Many of you are aware that our dear Roxanne is dealing with some difficult medical issues. She was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer late last year and has completed three weeks of twice daily radiation doses as well as 4 cycles of chemotherapy. In addition she has been receiving weekly infusions of fluids, anti-nausea meds and occasional blood transfusions.
Her doctor has said that she may need up to six cycles of chemotherapy treatment and we are unsure at this point if she will need more radiation. She will have another CT scan in early-February to see if the tumor has disappeared…(of course it will!).
Roxanne is hanging in there, fighting through the difficult days and making us laugh on the good ones. She has handled this better than any of us could have imagined and continues to put a smile on the face of everyone she comes into contact with, even in the chemo lab. Unfortunately, on top of all of the appointments, scans, medicine, side effects, sickness and loss of hair, her work income has diminished while her medical bills are rising. Due to a misunderstanding with the disability process, she depleted her personal vacation time and had to miss a couple of weeks of pay. Her short-term disability payment is only approximately 66% of her regular income and out of that amount she must pay for health insurance, short and long term disability, and all the other things that come out of our paychecks.
Since Roxanne is single and a homeowner, we are worried that she may not be able to pay her mortgage, utilities and car payments in the near future. Many of you have asked what you can do to help her while she goes through this difficult time. We've set up this page so that we can help her focus 100% on getting better and not on financial issues. No amount is too small and any help is greatly appreciated. She has always been a blessing to each and every one of us and now is the time for us to bless her. Thank you so much from the bottom of all of our hearts for your help, love and support.
