Hello!
My name is Roxanne and I'm 46 years old. I'm from Montreal.
After investing time, effort and money to aviation training as a pilot, and after all my efforts to find my place in this industry, as a middle age woman, I concluded it was time for me to let go of this career goal, and move on to another professionnal orientation.
So I am now proud to start a path closer to my current work experience, and I am going back to university to acquire strategy and management skills as much as some psychology knowledge, which will be exactly what I need to go where I want to go.
I need your help, times are rough and as you can see, I do succeed and finish my projects.
Here is a little background info of the last few years.
Between 2019 and 2023 I followed my dream of becoming an airline pilot. For those 5 years I was a student pilot in training in a school around Montreal. I am now proudly licenced as a commercial pilot!
Here is a summary of the milestones I have achieved:
- In April 2019 I started to study theory. Later that summer I started flying with an instructor.
- In Summer 2020, I passed with great success my Private Pilot Licence!
- Then I got my Multi-Engine and Instrument Rating in April and October 2021.
- In 2022, I completed my Commercial Pilot Licence in August 2022.
But finding your first job is a challenge. You need to make sacrifices in order to get that chance of being hired with low time. So I tried different options, including trying to become an instructor (additional costs of 15K) but my school closed… and I realized this wasn’t for me.
At 46 years old, I'm mature and experienced enough to be disciplined and focused. I have university degrees and I was very motivated to become an airline pilot.
However, entering the market and getting your first job appeared to be way more difficult that expected. There are many called, but few are chosen. After spending 2023 and 2024 of trying to get a first copilot job without having to move and live remotely in Canada, I decided in 2025 it was time to let go and close that chapter as a career option.
Thanks to all my suitors, with your help, I realized my buggest dream and the most difficult one. It forged the person I am now, I learned so much and none of this is lost. It will keep a special place in my life and I may try again to find a job. No doubt your support made a huge difference.
Now, I am entering a new chapter and I am very motivated and optimistic, so help is always appreciated and needed!
I can't thank you enough.
