Roxanna Morales is a Salvadorian Muslim who reverted to Islam in 1999. She was highly involved in Dawah for the hispanic community with a group called Casa Islamica.
Last year during Ramadan she started getting severe abdominal pains and got very sick and was admitted in the ER at Methodist hospital in Houston, TX. They discovered cancer on top of one of her valves to her heart and it had spreaded thru out her other organs. Surgery was performed and she was in a induced comma for 3 days with her chest opened. During her time while she was in intensive care, they gave her a medication that stopped circulation of her blood and this caused gangrene to all 4 of her limbs. Although the doctors state that the operation was a success because they removed the cancerous tumors that she had, she is now having to live her life with no limbs. Obviously her quality of her life will change and she will need continuous support, for her cost of living, recovery (medical supplies) and for a personal care provider. She is scheduled to have her legs amputated this Monday July 3, 2017 at Ben Taub Hospital and they will be scheduling for her arms to be amputated in the near future.
Roxanna has always been a hard worker and even with her condition subhanAllah she was out in front of a masjid here in Houston, Texas during this past Ramadan selling items such as hijabs, toys and doing what she could to make a living. We are pleading to the Muslim Community to help her and to take this opportunity to get blessings from our Creator. At the end when we leave this earth we will not take anything with us only our deeds. Please help with what you can and please share this post.
We will be posting a video of her which she agreed to make and will be posting pictures as we proceed in’shaaAllah
