Nathan's Training

Donation protected
Nathan Mishler is a hard-working student athlete in Port Angeles, Washington. He is a member of the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association .

Nathan has the potential to be a top competitive rower. By further developing his skills he may be able to qualify for scholarships and college opportunities that would not otherwise be available. Nathan needs to train with other top athletes in a highly competitive setting to develop his skills and realize his potential.

Nathan applied for and was accepted to the Penn AC Gold summer rowing program.  He also has been accepted to compete in the 2018 Youth National Championship in Rancho Cordova the second week of June.

The Penn AC training is a competitive and intensive program designed to prepare athletes to handle all aspects of rowing necessary for top-level competition. Participation in the will also help Nathan to improve his chances to row in college and receive athletic scholarships.  In addition, Nathan will have the opportunity to attend two college recruiting events.

Nathan's reason for wanting to attend the Penn AC Gold training:
"Penn AC is one of the most prestigious rowing programs in the country. By training with Penn AC, I hope to gain knowledge about rowing technique, team leadership, and ways to improve as an athlete. I am coming from a small club and I will benefit from the experiences of rowing with top athletes and learning from different coaches. I plan to share what I learn at Penn AC with my home team members to help them grow into the best athletes they can be."

As the only child of a single parent Nathan is used to working hard to earn money for what he needs. He is currently participating in the Running Start program where he takes classes at the community college to fulfil requirements for High School graduation and an AA degree. These challenging classes and daily rowing practice leave Nathan with little time to raise money for his camp.

The full cost of the summer camp is $6,800.00 plus airfare to Philadelphia. Nathan and his mother have been able to raise $1,500 but are unable to come up with the remaining $5,300 that is due by mid-June.

We are asking for your help to raise the remaining funds to allow Nathan to train with other top rowing athletes.

The Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association  is a small rowing club that is growing and has wonderful coaching staff. The club has limited resources and few varsity level rowers.

In the three years Nathan has been rowing he has accomplished:
