Educational Resource for Rowers and Coaches

Donation protected
I am asking for your help to fund the creation of a comprehensive database of sport specific knowledge for rowing. This Rowing Resource will combine long form podcasting, YouTube hosted video, and an easy to navigate website to deliver valuable information to those who need it the most. By leveraging modern mediums of communication to their fullest, the rowing community will enjoy unprecedented ease of access to the subjects they are most interested in.

The first phase of the project will focus on production of a podcast, which will feature long form conversations between notable minds in the sport. Listeners will have the chance to be a fly on the wall for conversations exploring training practices, coaching methodology, program management, governance and more. By leaving behind the restricted formats of a standard interview or prepared presentation, this approach offers a degree of genuine insight you cannot replicate in a book or conference.

The second phase will dive into video. Offering more focused content touching on key questions and issues, viewers can explore quick tutorials or sit down and listen to long lectures by figures they may never had access to otherwise. Viewers will also enjoy unrestricted access based on their personal needs and interests. You'll never have to worry about the limitations of conferences where you can only sit in one room at a time. Now you'll be able to listen to whatever you want, limited only by the time you have available. Want to learn the easiest way to replace a sculling grip? That'll be here. Want to understand the interaction between neuromuscular refractory periods and physiological capacity for energy production as it relates to peak performance? That'll be here too.

The final phase will compile the above with a foundation of written material to ensure no question is left unanswered. The internet is a vast resource and others have already contributed countless hours of their own knowledge to the digital ether. Finding what you need in that space can often be a challenge, and knowing what is credible and what isn't brings further complication. This resource will strive to organize and leverage that knowledge for its community by easing the process of finding what you need and benefiting from a wide range of perspectives.

Rowing has grown so much in the last several decades and the struggle to find skilled leadership and instruction is constant. Coaching education is a luxury and most of those looking to shepherd the next generation are given a microphone and chase boat well before they've had any guidance on how to be effective from the other side of that microphone. Program leadership is drawn from the ranks of parents and community members with little to no direct experience with the sport. They are equipped with enthusiasm and the desire to help and this resource will seek to provide them with the information they need to support their program and it's participants.

We will never be able to add hours to the day, but by creating a comprehensive database of knowledge that everyone in the sport can access, hopefully we will give our community a flexible and effective means to educate themselves in a way that works with their lifestyle and schedule.

Thank you for believing in this project and for helping to make it a reality.
