In 2018, as a 9-month novice rower I took on the challenge of the Petaluma river marathon in a single scull to raise money for WEAVE. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life (recently surpassed by wisdom tooth removal!) but I did it.
The next year I had a wingman/partner in crazy and Rob and I completed the marathon in a double scull. Last year was cancelled, so this year I'm baaaaack for more! Returning in a single scull (miss you Rob!), I am back for a rematch! Now that I can (sort of) row in a straight line and (sort of) row more efficiently, I'm hoping I'll put up more of a fight technique and fitness-wise!
Knowing that I am rowing for WEAVE (I am on the board of this fantastic non-profit, more below) really keeps me going each and every stroke on that long, winding and lonely river.
More information about WEAVE, Inc: We believe in the power and potential of every human. We support and empower survivors to make their own decisions and determine the options that work best for them.
