Olderfleet Coastal Rowing Club, based on Northern Ireland’s scenic Antrim Coast, is asking for community support as it raises funds to purchase a coastal single—a vital piece of equipment that will expand opportunities for its growing membership, especially juniors and aspiring competitors.
Founded just five years ago with a single boat donated by the father of the club’s founder, Olderfleet now boasts over 80 members and plays a key role in promoting coastal rowing—a sport that provides both physical and mental health benefits. The club welcomes rowers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels and has already competed locally, nationally, and internationally.
Despite rapid growth and a strong volunteer base, the club does not have access to the grants and public funding available to some other sports organizations. This fundraiser aims to help level the playing field and give every athlete, particularly young rowers, the resources they need to train, develop skills, and compete at the highest levels.
With coastal rowing now officially recognized as an Olympic sport, we want to make sure our members have the tools they need to pursue their dreams. A coastal single is more than just a boat—it’s a crucial training tool that helps build confidence, technique, and independence.
