Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way, and sometimes its the ones closest to us who remind us just how precious every moment is. Recently, a close friend of ours started showing signs of Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD) For those who may not know, YOPD affects people from the age of 20. It's a stark reminder that Parkinson's doesn't discriminate by age and that this condition can disrupt lives when people should be in the prime of their youths.
That's why we set ourselves an ambitions goal: five marathons, completed entirely on indoor rowing machines. Each of us will row a full marathon - 42.195km without leaving the seat of our rowers. Together that is over 210Km of relentless effort, pushing through physical and mental barriers that come with such a feat within a combined time of less than 20 hours. Making every mile, every stroke, every second count.
Why 20 hours? Because it represents the age at which YOPD can begin. Every row, every blister, every drop of sweat will be a symbol of our fight against the disease, a tribute to our friend and to millions of others affected by Parkinson's worldwide.
Our ultimate challenge is to raise awareness of Parkinson's and YOPD.
Donate what you can, share our story, or even just cheer us on as we row towards the finish line. Together we can make a real difference to those affected by this disease and show them that their fight is our fight too. Because no one should face this alone.
Thank you for the support.
