The hockey community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of a beloved young player, #2 Rowen Greening.
While Rowen proudly played with the North Durham Warriors U12 AA this season, his hockey family extended far beyond one team. Through years on the ice, he built friendships and connections with players, coaches, and families across many teams, including the Brock Wild, Woodville Hurricanes, and others throughout the region. Wherever Rowen played, he left an impression.
Rowen was the kind of player teammates looked up to; a young, natural leader who brought heart, determination, and positivity to the rink every single day. He was a deeply loved son and brother, an admirable teammate, a loyal friend and a natural leader whose presence made a lasting impact on everyone around him.
In the days since this unimaginable loss, the outpouring of support from our team, surrounding communities, and hockey organizations across Ontario has been overwhelming. Many have reached out asking how they can help support Rowen’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
This GoFundMe has been created for those who wish to contribute. Funds raised will help relieve any additional stressors for Rowen’s family and support them in the days and months ahead as they navigate life without him.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared messages of support, and offered their help. The strength, compassion, and unity shown by the hockey community during this heartbreaking time has been truly beautiful and deeply comforting.
With heavy hearts and gratitude,
The North Durham Warriors U12 AA community
