Rowan's Treatment Fund
Donation protected
Hi everyone!!
We, Josh and Jenn, wanted to reach out and bring everyone in on a part of our current process. As many of you know, our sweet boy Rowan was diagnosed a little over 3 years ago with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). He is seen as “severe” in the range of what ASD encompasses.
Practically, part of what this means in our daily life is that Rowan is completely non-verbal and non-communicative. He understands very few words and can’t communicate with us more than a few very basic signs from sign language. Our main form of communication is Rowan grabbing our hands and leading us to what he wants. Along with the lack of communication, Rowan wakes up at about 2:00 am around 30-40% of the time and doesn’t go back to sleep till the next night. This is due to his body not producing the right amount of hormones needed to induce and sustain sleep.
With all this said, he has a very delayed cognitive level so if he wakes up, one of us has to be up with him. In an effort to assist Rowan the best we can, he has been in therapies well before he was even diagnosed with ASD. At our peak, we had 8 sessions a week including speech x2, feeding, occupational, physical, ABA x2 and developmental. As believers, we are praying for and believing that God will heal our sweet boy one day. At the same time that we steward that hope and prayer, we pursue any resources medically that we feel could potentially help Rowan. Currently, our biggest challenge comes from frustration that’s a result of the lack of communication. Simply, he wants something but we basically have to shoot in the dark till we hit the mark. This has driven us to seek and to search, to try and find anything else that has shown promising results through science. We recently found a newer treatment located in Atlanta that uses laser therapy and high purity oxygen to help initiate and promote brain development. The testimonies and results have lead us to look further into it and recently had a consultation with one of their doctors. We and the Doctors have a lot of hope that this treatment could make a huge difference for Rowan and his brain development.
Our hope is that his communication, both in understanding and in communicating would increase, as well as more consistency within his sleep. The treatment would start at a week in Atlanta, GA and would be $10,000 per week. That doesn’t include Air BnB, food, and all other travel expenses. Currently, that is not feasible for us to cover. We wanted to reach out to all of you, our community, and just humbly ask if you wanted to give towards the treatment. A lot of you often ask, how you can help or what do we need etc. This is a very hard thing to answer for us in the moment, because we are constantly trying to figure out this life with Rowan and what he actually needs, let alone what Noa or we need. Here is an opportunity to help. We would love to pursue this treatment with high hopes that it would greatly impact Rowan. We simply just can’t afford it right now.
Please let us know if you want to help, we greatly appreciate it. If we can’t make it happen soon, we will still be shooting to make it happen whenever we can!
Thank you!
