Rowan Kilkenny's Long Healing Journey Ahead

In November 2020 the Kilkenny family, Elana and Jim, discovered that their 10-year-old daughter Rowan found a very large, rare and aggressive tumor growing in her jaw bone that is currently being classified as a Juvenile Ossifying Fibroma .
Due to its size and aggressive nature of continued growth, Rowan had to undergo a major and complex 13-hour surgery on December 14th at Mount Sinai’s Kravis Children’s Hospital with 1 surgeon to remove the tumor (which as of now we believe to be benign) and another surgery to reconstruct her jaw.
When the doctors removed the tumor they unfortunately needed to also remove a part of Rowan’s jaw and all of her teeth that were in that area. To reconstruct the jaw they also had to take a large bone graft from her leg to hook up the blood supply to her jaw via her neck.
Rowan is now beginning a very long and challenging reconstruction and recovery process and is still in the hospital. There will be many stages to the recovery and reconstruction process for the weeks, months and years to come.
As beloved Rowan and her beautiful family go through this process, we (her dear friends) have created this Gofundme campaign to call upon any support you can offer to support them to invest in the necessary medical, physical and psychological support that Rowan will require to heal fully and powerfully and to support her family as a whole and ease the tremendous financial stress that comes along with this long healing process.
Your donation will be invested in Rowan’s ongoing treatment and related medical expenses including the reconstruction process that will include more surgeries over time to replace her removed teeth in stages as she’s currently too young to get her permanent implants as she’s still growing. This tumor and surgery has also disrupted the ecology of other areas of her mouth so she will need MANY years of complicated orthodontic work over the coming years as well.
To help heal her leg Rowan will also likely need physical therapy and other types of support, as well as other procedures down the line to help mitigate the scarring that was unfortunately unavoidable during the surgery.
In addition to requiring multiple procedures and surgeries on the physical level, Rowan will also need psychological support to help them navigate this challenging time.
Rowan, in her young life has already touched so many lives with her spirit of fierce grace, kindness, old-soul wisdom and innate magic.
