Rowan and family

my name is Emily, Krista (mom) is my cousin. below is information on what the funds being raised are for. And information on sweet Rowan.

Just wanted to give a little backstory of what’s happened

So 7 days ago my sweet girl started with a fever of 102. Over the course of a few days it was going up to 107. We took her to her pediatrician twice and was told it was just a viral infection and by (today) it would should be cleared up. Rowans skin started to turn yellow, she was unable to walk. Wouldn’t eat or drink. So we took her to the emergency room. We were told she had pneumonia and needed some extra fluids. They blew out vein after vein. She began to have a dark purple rash all over her body, taking 90 breaths a minute and her oxygen intake was below 90. She was struggling to breathe.

Once we got to cmc main I was then told how sick she really was. That she was as sick as sick could get. Her platelets were low, her blood sugar was 27. Her blood pressure was low. Her lungs, heart, kidneys and liver have all taken a hit. She was in septic shock and that it was life threatening. In 6 hours my girl went from being able to talk to me to laying on a hospital bed on life support.

She had a strep bacteria in her blood (they found this at the first ED we went to) Her little body is so weak, the amount of guilt I feel for not knowing or seeing just how sick she was. They are now thinking it’s HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare but potentially fatal condition in which certain white blood cells (histiocytes and lymphocytes) build up in and damage organs, including the bone marrow, liver, and spleen, and destroy other blood cells.) due to the fact the bacteria was gone so quickly from her blood and haven’t gotten a positive on the bacteria here at Levines. Her mortality rate due to the multiple organ failure is 70-80%. This is the scariest and hardest situation I have ever endured. Nothing could have prepared me for it.

We are going to be here for a while. I feel awful even having to ask for the help but I will not be able to work, my family has had to take off of work to help me with my 4 other kids. Food, gas back and forth. Any medical bills that come from this including normal bills at home.. so if you can help in any way. I appreciate it so much. Even if it’s just kind words or a prayer for my sweet Rowan..

We again still have such a long road ahead and are not out of the clear. At any moment things can take a turn, she can get sicker. So please the most important thing to me is everyone just continuing to pray for her. I can’t lose my little girl.
