Row with the flow
Donation protected
We’re Rosie, 26, Mel, 33, and Clare, 46, AKA Row With The Flow.
We’re a three-woman crew, spanning three decades in age, and in December we’ll be rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, from La Gomera, Spain to Antigua.
For over 40 days we’ll row two hours on, two hours off, 24/7 entirely self supported – no safety boat nearby.
Our challenge is twofold: Raising funds to get us to the start line and donating over £30,000 for our chosen charities - The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and Ocean Generation; £10 for every mile we row. With your help, we can meet the financial demands of this endeavour and dedicate our energy to raising funds for these life-changing causes. All the proceeds will be donated to our chosen charities.
We’re incredibly grateful for donations of any amount, below you can see how your donation is supporting us.
£10 - sponsor a mile
£50 - Feed a rower for the day
£150 - Feed the team for a day
£250 - join our 250 club, find out more on our website! www.rowwiththeflow.org
What It Takes
Before we can even dip an oar in the water, we need to get to the start line. We have to qualify in navigation, first aid, far from help first aid and short wave radio. We have to row 200 hours on our boat, 100 in darkness and we’ll do capsize drills and (wo)man overboard training.
Less than 400 women have ever rowed an ocean and the mid Atlantic is closer to space than dry land.
We’ll encounter 40 foot waves, 25 knot winds, sharks, whales, dolphins, flying fish and sea turtles (Rosie’s obsession).
Our Crew
Rosie, 26, From Henley-on-Thames - "I'm a strength and conditioning coach/PT and army reservist. I’ve always craved the outdoors, adventure and a challenge and this will be the biggest and best yet.
Mel, 33, from Sydney - "I'm a full-time social worker, part time outdooraholic and adventure seeker. Lover of rowing and the ocean (why not put the two together)”
Clare, 46, from Solihull - "I'm a journalist and best selling ghost writer. I cant wait to get on the oars with my amazing crew mates and row towards the women well be when we get to Antigua ”
Eco credentials
Just 13 per cent of the world’s seas are truly wild and unmarred by human activity. Each boat must account for all of their litter with race organisers aware of exactly how much food is taken aboard each vessel. If we can’t account for all our litter when we arrive in Antigua, we’re disqualified.
Oars, solar energy and desalination machines take the place of powered engines, fossil fuels and bottled water.
Whether it’s a small donation or a larger sponsorship, your support means the world to us and the causes we’re championing.
Thank you for believing in our motley crew, Rosie, Mel and Clare x
