On February 15th 2026, I'll be rowing 43,000 meters to raise money for Harefield Hospital - a world leading centre treating two of the biggest killers: heart & lung disease.
This challenge is deeply personal. I know how vital a strong heart and healthy lungs are - and Harefield saves lives every single day.
On February 10th 2025 at around 6:15am I suffered a double heart attack as I was preparing to go to work. Luckily for me I managed to call the ambulance myself before losing consciousness. The ambulance found me with no pulse and had to resuscitate me twice before getting me to hospital, where I was immediately treated to remove a blood clot in my left anterior descending artery. They call this 'the widow maker' because chance of survival is less than 10%. On top of this I had contracted a lung infection that would leave me fighting for my life in intensive care for 2 weeks.
Luckily for me I was able to pull through and start my recovery in Harefield hospital during my 25 day stay. I can safely say were it not for the ambulance crew that morning, the doctors & nurses at Harefield that I wouldn't be sitting here today with my family.
Sadly just 4 months after leaving hospital my mother suffered a fatal heart attack while at home and so I know all too well the extreme gratitude having survived and the unimaginable pain of loss.
Every stroke I row is for someone fighting to take another breathe, for every heartbeat that needs strengthening and for every family who deserves more time with their loved ones all in the memory of mum.
Your support will help fund life saving treatment and research, giving more people the chance beat hard and breather easy.
Please donate what you can and share this challenge, together we can make every metre matter.
