Hi, I’m Kathelleen. Cancer and I are meeting again - but I’m still standing.

In 2019, I faced oral cancer with determination, stubbornness, and the love of some incredible people. Now it’s back. The journey is tougher this time, but my resolve is just as strong.

I’m scheduled for major surgery in Vancouver, including a subtotal glossectomy, removal of all lymph nodes on the right side of my neck, and reconstructive surgery. Recovery will involve a temporary feeding tube and tracheostomy, and I’ll relearn how to eat, swallow, and speak.

I’ll stay in Vancouver for up to 30 days after surgery, and I’ll need caregiver support. My son, Fraser, will be by my side - his calm presence keeps me grounded. After surgery, I’ll travel to Prince George for several weeks of radiation, speech therapy, and dietitian support. Ideally coming home each night to my leafy tribe and cat guardians, Bella and Eva. This is where my strength and hope will grow back.

I’m trying to raise up to $3,000 to cover caregiver accommodations ($50/day) and essential travel and lodging for treatments. Airfare is covered, but gas, transport, and short-term stays are the real challenge.

Recovery isn’t just about surviving - it’s about reclaiming life, laughter, and independence. Asking for help isn’t easy, but strength also comes from leaning on help. I’m ready for this fight - and yes… FUCK CANCER.
