My name is Anastasia and I'm so excited to welcome you into the world of 'Rotting Hill' - a genre-blend dystopian romantic comedy. We are a group of professional filmmakers who are eager to work on this exciting and passionate story, but we need your help!

There are currently no grants in Australia that support short films. The only professional funding possible for short films is through arts grants, which generally don't support film. Which means the barrier to the art of filmmaking is heavily financial, and that only people with disposable income can make a good short film.

And so, with your help, we can make this good short film!

OUR FILM:

We are full steam ahead in preparing to shoot at the end of November. We are currently:

Researching and scouting locations with a view to logistical and artistic needs
Sourcing materials that will create our world - the costumes, props and set dressing that will make our world come alive.
Gathering a collaborative crew of industry professionals, and taking expressions of interest from students to jump on board as industry and mentorship placements.

And most of all, we are getting excited about experimenting with storytelling in a thought-provoking and gutsy way (but we won't reveal the ending to you just yet). We are - EXCITED!

YOU ARE SUPPORTING:

With your donation, we can provide our artists with (an insulting, but appreciative) payment for their time and dedication to the work. We are passionate about professional artists being valued and compensated fairly. However in order to pay professional industry rates, our budget would have to be around $80-100,000. In a short film context with no government funding, we are realistic in our capabilities - so we are hoping to offer a small payment as a token of our appreciation.

We will be shooting across nine days, and your donation will go towards providing meals, amenities and safety for our cast and crew. This includes hiring generators to source power, hiring toilets when shooting in abandoned locations, providing first aid capabilities and insurance in case of emergencies.

The necessary gear to create a quality film. This supports us to use cameras, lenses and lights in creating an industry-standard short film competitive in film festivals. This also includes hard drives to ensure we don't lose any of our precious work!

Your donation will also actively be contributing to the artistry of the film - a large part of our budget goes to sourcing and creating the locations, set dressing, props and costumes of a post apocalyptic world. Your donations will be tangibly visible on screen, and will make a considerable difference to the quality of what we can create!
