Rottenwood Garage Flood 9-7-2021
Donation protected
I was urged to share our story after a catastrophic loss in our area. Tuesday night, 9-7-21 Cobb County, Ga. experienced a rainstorm the likes of which have not been seen or recorded. The flash flood it left behind affected many people in our area. Their losses far out way ours, but Rottenwood Garage losses were staggering non the less. We have a backyard hobby shop that is used as a local outreach and community garage. It is open (never locked) to anyone who cares to be part of the team. We build hotrods, trucks, do repairs and maintenance, assemble vehicles from parts for the up and coming youth that share the same interests for free. We donate vehicle and vehicles are given to us to fix and repurpose. Our mission is to share the knowledge, teach a skill and be a positive light in our community along with simply enjoying what we build. This includes mechanics, fabrication, welding, auto AC to list just a few. The shop sustained flooding with 28" of water inside and 6' of water outside damaging or destroying all of our equipment and tools along with ~12 vehicles ranging in age from 1931 to 2013. We are still working through the damage and property restoration. It has taken hundreds of manhours and countless volunteers just to get to a place where we can "start" and we still have countless hours to go. This fund idea was recommended to reimburse those who lost uninsured items, help pay for repairs and aid in cleanup. We would appreciate your thoughts while we work through this.
