Rosy Lidia Davis is a first year student at Mississippi State University. She recently finished working for the MSU extension service and Brown University conducting wildlife habitat and air/sound quality monitoring in the Jackson, MS metro area, and was set to start her first term at MSU as part of their Wildlife Biology(B.S) program.
On the evening of Monday, August 14th, Rosy fainted behind the wheel and her vehicle left the road off MS Hwy 45 en route to Starkville. By the grace of God, and the help of several good samaritans and friends, she made it out alive. The airbag in her 1999 Ford Ranger(which she lovingly referred to as Artemis) kept her vital organs safe, and she is stable and resting. Even still, her road to recovery will be long. She has suffered extensive injuries to her lower extremities, including multiple breaks to both legs and ankles, a tibial plateau fracture just below the knee, as well as a broken arm. She has already had two surgeries in the last 24 hours, and will need at least one more; additionally, rehabilitation and physical therapy are a given. She will likely be in the hospital for at least the next week, and recovery will likely take several months.
This GoFundMe is to help with the extensive cost of her medical expenses. While she is lucky enough to have insurance, the costs quickly pile up regardless. Her vehicle is also a total loss. Not to mention time spent out of work, rent, basic costs of living, etc. The intent is to help build up enough of a cushion for her that when she comes out the other side of this and is finally able to process what has happened, she won't have the looming cloud of financial burden weighing on her shoulders as she tries to pick herself back up.
