Raising Funds in thanks in Memory of Ross Thatcher to the AMAZING care provided by Raigmore ICU , Kyle Court and for Inverness Cat Rescue
My gorgeous, funny, intelligent, silly, exasperating and utterly adored husband Ross passed away on Friday May 28th 2021 after a short but catastrophic Illness in the ICU of Raigmore Hospital , Inverness, Scotland.
Ross was only 53.
He was an amazing man who I was beyond lucky to have by my side for over 30 years.
His final passing was peaceful and I was able to be with him until the end .
I cannot thank all the NHS staff enough for fighting so hard to try and keep him with us and for the absolute compassion and care they showed to us both throughout.
They are absolute legends, as was he.
We will be raising funds for Raigmore Hospital ICU and Kyle House (which was a safe haven where I was able to stay on the hospital grounds while they treated him and enabled me to be with him for as much time as possible in his final days ) in his memory.
We hope we raise enough to fund another 'Big'Bed (or more) so other patients with a similar height and breadth of Ross (he was a big man in ALL senses of the word) can be treated more comfortably and make it easier on the nurses and medics treating them.
I would also like to fund nights at Kyle Court for any spouse or partner who finds themselves in a similar situation to me to be as close to their loved one as possible in their final days / hours but may not be able to afford it.
A portion of the money will also go to Inverness Cat Rescue ...because Ross loved cats and they loved him.
Please help us make this happen.
If you are not in the position to give money and if you are able, wherever you are please consider giving blood .
Love and Thanks to you all from us both.
Fran and Ross xxxxx
Ross was originally from Port Eynon in South Wales and made his first visit to the Highlands with Fran in 1990 and moved to Drumnadrochit with her (and their lunatic Cat) to be close to her family from London in 2003.
He loved, fishing, target shooting and camping , was an incredible cook and his post pub 'snacks' that he would just whip up for our friends were simply amazing.
In his teens he was an avid Surfer and skateboarder. (who knew???)
Ross got stuck into Highland life as a postie, at Urquhart Castle, the Benleva Hotel, Drumnadrochit and latterly for High Life Highland at Inverness Botanic Gardens helping to create the floral displays and hanging baskets that you see around Inverness City Centre and beyond.
If you see the floral displays there this year think of him, as he was involved in their creation before he passed away.
He made an impact so many lives.
We hope that the money raised can continue to do so by helping people (and cats) in his memory
RIP Ross.
