Rosner Family Support

Hi Friends, the Rosners need our help!  Unfortunately Dirk's cancer is back.  While Dirk and Elisha are grateful to have a strong emotional support system,  cancer treatment comes with serious financial concerns and unexpected expenses that the family would like to be prepared for.

Our goal is to raise $50,000
to support Dirk and his family during this difficult time.  Any contribution is greatly appreciated! Please take a moment to read Elisha's story below and find it in your hearts to help such a wonderful family.

"Dirk and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary this June. We have two amazing kiddos. Skylar, our daughter who will be entering her senior year and our son Logan who will be entering his Junior year! Both attend Blue Valley West. They have and will always be our pride and joy.

Our story is as normal as any family. Things changed December 2016! Days before Christmas our world was turned upside down. Most of you know the story but I will tell it anyway! I was having certain symptoms that my primary care doc suggested that I get a colonoscopy. I went thru the process and I was 100% fine. I was sitting in the doctors office with my mom and something pushed me to get Dirk a check up. I scheduled him to see my doctor and he had told her he was having minor symptoms. She ordered a colonoscopy but was denied by the insurance company. I called her and said I really think he needs one. She rewrote his symptoms with a little more emphasis and the insurance company finally approved. The day arrived and as soon as the doctor came in after Dirks procedure I knew by the look on his face something was wrong. Sure enough he found a large tumor and said it characterized cancer. We scheduled a CT scan, blood work and met with the surgeon. Sure enough he was diagnosed with Stage IIIB colorectal cancer. It was so large the doctor said it had been growing for 2-3 years. He did 4 treatments of chemo pills and 5 treatments of radiation. About a month after those treatments he had surgery to remove the tumor. They also removed 12 lymph nodes. Two of his nodes had tested positive for cancer. Surgery went amazing. He finished another few months of IV chemo. Once he completed all of that we were both feeling optimistic! About 1 year later and he looked great! You would have never known he was ever sick! He was feeling great and life was getting back to normal. Six months went by and it was time for him to see his doctors to get blood work. His CEA levels were elevated which was concerning. They ordered a CT scan and found a shadow on his liver. From there they wanted to see it better so they ordered a PET scan. Sure enough the cancer had spread to his liver. This is considered Stage IV colorectal cancer. Not good news. Again our world has been shaken. He just completed 6 IV chemo treatments and by the end of July they will perform surgery on his liver to remove the tumor. This will take about 6 weeks to heal from and then from there he will resume another 6 treatments of chemotherapy. Dirk is an independent contractor for insurance companies. When he isn’t working we are not getting paid. This has taken a huge toll on our family physically, mentally and financially. We hate to ask or even accept help but we are in need. We are trying to keep things as normal as possible for our kids. This is a big year for Skylar and we would hate for anything to change. By the time Dirk has his second surgery and his 4th round of chemo this cancer will have robbed us from 2 years of our lives. To add to the crazy Dirk unexpectedly lost his dad to a stroke May 30th of this year. He was at his chemo appointment when his dad met God! It has been a very sad and trying time for our family! His dads passing was my breaking point! If any of you know Dirk, you know he is always happy and positive. He never complains but I see his pain when he is going through all of this and it kills me to see him suffer. The kids and I just don’t want him to stress about finances and focus more on fighting and healing. We appreciate and love you all. We have been so blessed with amazing family and amazing friends!!!!
