My name is Amy Schoenacher and I have been teaching art at Rosman High School since 1999. Every year I am amazed by the visual arts talents in our little school. Unfortunately, we do not have an appropriate venue in which to display their incredible work. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise the remaining funds to implement a permanent gallery space at our school to showcase student work in the professional manner it deserves. Thanks to the Board of Education, a generous donation from Frank and Donna Patton, and fundraising efforts by the art students, as well as a donor willing to match our efforts, we are very close to our goal and this could help our dream come true.
The arts are such a crucial part of our culture and help define who we are. Unfortunately, visual arts programs often do not have the support that other organizations in the school do including booster clubs and parent supporters that help to raise money for programs. I rely on raising money through booths at community events, volunteering time and talents for donations, and donations for student works such as a mural in downtown Rosman.
I know that the arts are part of a well-rounded education that often help to keep students engaged in school and help to prevent dropouts. I hope to get this project started as soon possible so that the community can bear witness to the extraordinary works that RHS art students create. Please consider being an art advocate for our students. They deserve a place to showcase their talents. We cannot thank you enough!
