This is Roslyn, she is our 2 year old Bloodhound that has been diagnosed with Severe Hip Dysplasia. She is more than just a pet, she is a member of our family and we are trying to raise money for her hip replacement. We never expected her to have such severe hip problems at such a young age and we want to give Roslyn the best possible chance of living a long, healthy, and pain-free life.
We have gotten X-rays and had second opinions from specialists for Roslyn, but at this point we have been told she will need at least one complete hip replacement. UC Davis has estimated approximately $8,000 for surgery to replace one hip. Since we are getting married in June, the surgery will most likely occur after July and/or when we have the funds to go through with the surgery. Ultimately we plan to have the surgery this year, so Roslyn's hips do not continue to degrade.
Roslyn has her good days and her bad days. In her prime, she would be capable of going 10 or more miles on a trail with no issues. Because of her drive and amazing nose, we would love to get into tracking with her. We decided to put tracking classes on hold when we realized she was in pain. Her hip issues progressed rapidly enough that more recently she would not go upstairs without yelping in pain. Eventually she completely refused to go up any stairs at all. Through weight management, supplements, and medication, we have managed the pain and gotten her moving around again. She still experiences discomfort and unfortunately things are going to continue to get worse. Hip Dysplasia is irreversible and the only solution to prevent things from getting worse are to get her a complete hip replacement.
Roslyn is one of fifteen puppies in her litter, comes all the way from Georgia, and has been a huge part of our family since she was 9 weeks old. Anyone who has met Roslyn will never forget her. She has a bunch of wrinkles, an extremely large (and extremely loud) character, an amazing nose (she is a Bloodhound what do you expect?), and an incredibly loving personality. Bloodhounds tend to be stubborn and Roslyn is no exception, but she has been a huge blessing to the both of us.
Roslyn is our furry child and we are extremely grateful for any help we receive. All of the money we raise will be put towards Roslyn’s medical bills. This means the world to us, thank you so much for donating!
Sincerely,
-Nick, Haley, and Roslyn
