I am writing to help my dear friend Rosa Nelly Garza. Four years ago with just a tent and a few coolers Rosa started building her dream to share her food and culture with her local community. Through years of hard work, grit, determination and passion she opened the doors of Rosita’s Cocina in The Tannery of Newburyport. Her restaurant is filled with heart, good food and a wonderful community. As all building projects go there were time and cost overruns, but Rosa persevered, learned how to run the business profitably and was on her way to making her business a success and is so grateful for everyone’s support. Unfortunately she has had a devastating set back. A few weeks ago she broke her foot badly and has had major reconstructive surgery and her recovery period will be at least 2 more months. Her injury leaves her unable to drive, work and do everything needed to keep her restaurant open full time and cannot manage her business, personal and medical expenses for the next couple of months while she recovers. She is fighting to keep her doors open. For anyone who knows Rosa, they know she has put her heart, soul and everything she owns into this business.
