Rosilda and Yasmin's Home
Donation protected
Rosilda was born on Dec 19, 1999, and was one of the first children to be involved in the Niños program. She lives with her parents and her 4 siblings, including Yasmyn, who is also a part of the program. She graduated high school and since January 2016 the program is helping her to study to be a chef in Antigua- her dream is to be able to open her own restaurant there.
Rosilda and her family are in need of our help- the home that they are currently living in is just like many homes in Guatemala, made of corrugated tin and dirt floors. However, it is built on a rented spot in San Antonio Guatemala with the possibility of being asked to leave at any time. Both Rosilda and her younger sister Yasmin have aspirations and dreams, Yasmin would like to be a teacher when she grows up and as previously mentioned Rosilda would love to own her own restaurant. During our most recent visit to their home, we became aware of just how poor the living conditions are. The family home in which 6 sleep, has no working bathroom and no electricity among other small things. Their mother and older sister are fabric weavers, this is the families main source of income.
Our goal is to raise enough money to be able to purchase a piece of land for this family and build a house which will provide them with a safe place to live and work as well as a brighter and safer future.
I met Rosilda on my first visit to Guatemala 2 years ago. She is a very sweet, kindhearted and hardworking young lady. Even as she is working towards her career while learning English, she continues to volunteer her time to help with the younger children in the Ninos con Benedicion program and any other projects that might be going on. No matter the task she is always willing to provide a lending hand, despite the magnitude of responsibilities she has on her plate.
She always gives thanks to God for helping her to have things that others do not have. She loves her sponsors and is thankful for the continuous support and allowing her continue with school which makes her happy. She loves being a part of the Niños program because through it she knows she can achieve her dreams and by giving back help the other kids achieve theirs too.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know her and supporting us in this journey to help provide a safer future for them two and their family.
