Rosie’s Ranch Dressing
is a delicous, non-profit organization created to help the transgender community one small bottle at a time!
As of today, there are very few orginizations out there that support this growing population. As a mother of a transgender daughter, I have wittnessed many continuing struggles with my child's peers and in school.
As a good friend of a transgender adult woman, I have wittnessed her homelessness as well as her poor treatment by society as a whole and the discrimination she faces when trying to find work.
Rosie’s ranch originated in my tiny kitchen as a favorite family recipe. As many children in America do, my trandgender daughter had an obcession for ranch dressing that just couldn’t be ignored. So I worked my magic with cream and garlic until I came up with the absolute perfect recipe.
Rosie’s Ranch was inspired by the homemade, New York pizzeria style ranch, only with a little Southern California flare. It’s smooth and silky with a bite of garlic and pepper. Great with veggies and on salads, but if you are like our family, it’s a favorite for dipping french fries in and smothering on pizza!
Here at Rosie’s headquarters, we are hoping to take some of the proceeds from our sales, and use them to help transgender people in California with some of the costs associated with legal name and gender changes. The court fee’s alone for a name change in the state of California are $435. Though the court offers a fee waiver for low income individuals, not all will qualify. In order to change your drivers license, there is a $36 fee, and the price for a revised birth certificate can range from $23 to $28. Though many places, such as the LGBTQ offer no cost help with the paperwork and filing of name changes, they don’t have the cash funding to cover all the fees associated with making this necessary change. We just want to help make the transition a little smoother for these amazing and brave individuals.
Our first step at making a difference will be the tasting and distrubution at local Southern California farmers markets and hopefully, soon after that, moving up to the big guys in retail stores. In order to do this, a space must be reserved to sell, labels must be created, jars must be bought, and ingredients will need to be purchased in bulk. To begin this journey, I am asking for a small amount of capital to get the ball rolling and the dressing pouring! I would like to have plenty dressing bottled and a space reserved by early summer to launch the product.
Hopefully, if all goes as planned Rosie's Ranch Dressing will help fund much bigger, and more urgently needed resources for our transgender friends and family in the years to come such as rent vouchers for housing (which is urgently needed in the state of California) as well as job placement.
Thank you everyone for your consideration on helping us on this journey. Each donation is appreciated and every dollar counts!!! If you can't afford to donate, please share this campaign. <3www.facebook.com/rosiesranchdressing
