Rosie's Memorial and Mortuary Fund
Donation protected
Rosie Lee passed away on Thursday, November 19 after a very short battle with extensive stage small cell lung cancer. The purpose of this gofundme is to help Kasey, Rosie's only child, with the costs of an unexpected death, such as cremation, memorial, and other mortuary fees. For more information on Rosie's battle, read below.
"It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my mom, Rosie. If you had the pleasure of knowing her, you already know how incredible she was. She was the most giving and loving person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. There wasn't a day that I spoke to her that she didn't make it a point to tell me how beautiful I am. It is because of her that I am beautiful, and strong. If you don't already know what happened to her, she was admitted to the hospital on Friday, November 6th with abdominal pain and swelling. On Tuesday, November 10th, she was diagnosed with extensive stage small cell lung cancer, which had spread to her liver, lymph nodes, and brain. Her prognosis was 8-12 months. She began chemo that night to attack the disease and hopefully have some meaningful time with family. Saturday, November 14th she was having trouble breathing and was admitted to the MICU with septic shock. She was placed on life support, and remained that way until last night. The lesions in her brain had began to bleed, she had multiple organ failure, and began having clotting issues, which the doctor believes is an indication the cancer had spread to her bone marrow as well. On top of that, she had been off of sedation for more than 3 days and had not woken up. She was suffering greatly, and as a result I had to become her advocate and make the most difficult decision I have ever had to make, but the best decision I could possibly make for her. She was taken off of life support and passed peacefully shortly thereafter surrounded by friends and family. Small cell lung cancer is a very fast-spreading, ugly disease. As you can see from the time line above, it is an unbelievably savage disease and we are all left in shock over the rapid devastation it has caused. Thank you to everyone who has offered love and support over the past 2 weeks. I have felt so helpless, but your kind words are uplifting and have given me strength during this time. Please take care of yourselves. If you feel sick, go to the doctor. Quit smoking, and have an advanced directive. Take it from me: It happens to others, and it can happen to you. Love you all. ♥"
