Rosie’s heart hole closure operation
Donation protected
As you may know, our daughter Rosie suffered a heart attack in July 2022.
After waiting nearly a year, we received the very upsetting news that NHS England will no longer fund the surgery she needs.
We are raising funds to pay for Rosie’s heart operation, to close a hole in her heart known as a Patent Foramen Ovale (or PFO).
Up until 2013, this procedure was freely available on the NHS.
However, a change in funding allocation due to a technicality (Rosie’s condition is relatively rare since she suffered a heart attack not a stroke), means that we are forced into self-funding this procedure that she desperately needs in order to avoid a lifetime of risk and endless medication.
Any small amount donated will help!
We are aiming to raise £20,000 as this should cover the cost of the operation.
We are all doing different things to raise money: watch this space for updates!!!
We appreciate all your help, however you feel able to give. I will be collecting the funds on Rosie’s behalf and once we have a date for surgery we’ll pay for the operation from the funds. If we manage to raise more than the costs, I will use the donations to pay for Rosie’s costs of living during her recovery as she will need some time off work.
With love,
Nellie, Rosie and family.
