Rosie's gender confirming surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Rosie <3
For 18 years of my life I hid who I was from the world, scared of what everyone would think. But after taking the huge step of comming out almost 4 years ago my life has become so incredibly better.
Since then I've been on a rollercoaster of a journey, from being kicked out of my home, to being able to get access to hormone replacement therpay - which I started in May 2021 and now moving to a new city to work my dream job while also meeting loads of new trans and lgbtqia+ people.
Unfortunately the NHS' stance on trans care is extremely poor and transphobic. I have had an awful all-round experience with GP's who have claimed to have referred me to Gender Identity Clinics but actually haven't. I am currently raising a formal complaint with my previous GP due to the way they treated me and my health. This is why I have decided to go privately. Since being with private health care my experience has been so much better with waiting times reduced massively and quality of care increased dramaticlly.
The waiting times for gender confirming surgery through the NHS can be up to 10 years in the UK, and there is no possible way I can wait that long to be able to finally achieve a body the matches my gender identity. However, private health care comes with a cost. The minimum cost for this surgery is £34,000 in the UK or around £17,500 abroad. Unfortunately I am in no position to be able to afford that myself, so I'm hoping to be able to raise some money to be able to help with this price tag.
As well as putting my own savings into this I will also be doing as much fundraising and social media-ing as possible so I can hopefully reach my goal.
I have a Vinted page where I am selling a few second-hand clothes and a RedBubble page where I have a few designs uploaded - with all the money made going towards this surgery. I am also running a half-marathon in September 2023. All these can be found on my linktree page - https://linktr.ee/rosie.rouxx
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this and donate to my fundraiser, I cannot put into words how much this means to me. I cannot wait to achieve this dream.
