My mother, Rose Klosowski has been through quite a bit within the last 3.5 months. It all started with back pain which was diagnosed as Sciatica. The Sciatica turned out to be a fractured Sacrum. The fractured Sacrum then turned into 2 fractured Sacrums. The left fractured Sacrum triggered a broken hip.

Surgery quickly followed an emergency room admission to repair and replace the left hip. Surgery went well and mom was transferred to Healthwin for rehabilitation. Mom was not even there for 4 days when she suffered a stroke.

The stroke was on the right side, thus affecting the left side of mom's body. She couldn't use her left leg and left arm.  Medicine was administered and a surgery was done to take the clot out. Luckily the medicine worked, the clot had dissolved. But 2 smaller strokes were discovered on the left side. We were informed that this is a rare occurrence. Testing was done the next day to discover the cause of the strokes. The cause was found...a hole between the upper chambers of her heart.

Mom spent a few days in the ICU . The medicines used to dissolve the clot and prevent more clots caused mom's hip surgery site to seep and bleed uncontrollably.  Bandages were placed 2-3 times daily to control the bleeding.

Mom was transferred to the Stroke Unit. Physical Therapy worked with mom to help try to regain use of her left side. All the moving kept causing the surgery site to bleed. The orthopaedic doctor ordered a wound vac to help seal and protect the site. Eventually mom was sent back to Healthwin for rehabilitation.

Another phone call from Healthwin...mom was being sent to the Emergency Room because her vitals were low. Mom was diagnosed with Urosepsis( an infection that started in the Urinary Tract that had spread to her bloodstream). The cultures came back with e. coli.

During this time, mom's staples were scheduled to come out. The doctor came in and removed a few of them. The seeping started again. The hip area was not healing properly. A second surgery on the hip was needed.

Surgery was performed to remove the dead tissue and replace all the plastic pieces used to repair the hip. Cultures were taken from the hip tissue. The deep tissue culture came back with e.coli. This meant that mom will have to be on antibiotics for the rest of her life.

Soon after physical, occupational and speech therapies continued. Keep in mind, mom still cannot use her left side because of the stroke. It has been a struggle for her.

Next, mom was diagnosed with c. Diff, which was caused by the wide spectrum antibiotics used to treat the sepsis. Mom was placed in isolation.

Mom is now back at Healthwin. She is still in isolation until the c.Diff clears up. Mom is struggling with her her situation....therapies, pain, etc.

Mom has doctors appointments coming up. The transportation cost is due at time of service...$260 a trip.

We need your help! The costs are becoming astronomical! Mom's savings are almost depleted. Mom has helped so many others that she hasn't saved enough for herself for emergency situations like this one. Any help you can give would go directly to mom to help cover costs...transportation, special supplements not offered at the facility, medical expenses, etc.

I know mom would never ask for help, that is why I am doing it for her. We love her very much and are doing our best to help, but we cannot do it alone.

I thank you with my whole heart.
