Rosie & Ed- Wild Cat Family
Donation protected
Please read- I’ve never done this before.
Last week, one of our own Wildcat family members, Rosie Houghton, had a stroke, and 75% of the right side of her brain was destroyed. Her husband, Ed, is besides himself. They have been married for 60 years. Many of you may remember Rosie. She worked with Mr. Goff as a front office secretary.
Many of you may also remember their son, Dean, #25 in the picture posted here. He was class of ‘84.
He was a bright light in my teenage years, and the Houghton family have always had a special place in my heart.
Dean was not only my first long time boyfriend, but we stayed close until his death. Dean sadly passed away at the young age of 32.
He was Rosie and Ed’s only child.
Rosie and Ed nicknamed me “Little Girl” the first day they met me, and I’ve been “Little Girl” ever since, so you can understand why I’m reaching out on their behalf. My love for them goes deep.
In sitting and grieving with Ed over the weekend, trying to figure out a plan, and going over Ed’s finances with him, he shared with me, that as of Jan. 1, 2024, they no longer had the funds to pay the utility bills or their rent. Nothing had been paid.
The Houghton’s lost their home about 10 years ago, Eddie had a heart attack and stopped working, and they’ve just lived in financial ruins ever since.
I am hoping that with my friends and family, we might be able to raise some funds to at least pay for their rent and utilities for Jan. and Feb, as Ed gathers his thoughts, packs up his belongings, and looks for a new place to live. They have no surviving family, no children, no grandchildren….. no one.
Rosie is expected to move to hospice next week, and the prognosis is not good.
The realization for Ed that he has no where to live and possibly no partner to weather the storm, has been devastating.
His crying doesn’t cease and it’s heart breaking.
Any little bit that you can give will help…..especially your prayers.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
