Rosie Delivers to Pearl Harbor

Hi! My name is Jo Ann Tufo and I am fundraising to offset costs to travel to Hawaii for the 80th Anniversary commemoration of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Your gift will assist me in securing transportation, lodging and meals while I am there.

I am a history teacher, lecturer and actor who performs as the World War II icon, "Rosie the Riveter" .

My Dad was a Veteran and spent his career in the United States Navy. Our family, spent decades living on military bases. My father's patriotic spirit and love of country inspired me to study and present American History for more than 30 years.

When I arrive in Hawaii I will be traveling with "Rosie's" a lunch bucket full of letters and messages of gratitude to our World War II Veterans and will present them at the USS Arizona Memorial. These letters will come from family members, school children, Veterans and appreciative Americans from the Myrtle Beach area. I will carry my father in my heart.

As a representative of the people in my area, I will also be partnering with an extraordinary brass band, "Festive Brass". who will be performing there in Hawaii. I am also partnering with an ORIGINAL "Rosie the Riveter" who will be making the trip from Pennsylvania. This is an extraordinary opportunity to bring awareness to the amazing women who worked throughout the war to ensure that defense plants and every other conceivable business kept working while the men joined the military.

I will present a ZOOM class live from Hawaii about the role of women at Pearl Harbor. A separate ZOOM presentation will be focused on the letters and personal stories of our World War II Veterans.
