Roshan & Roya's Devotional Album Lift Me Up

Hello! We are Roshan & Roya, a songwriting duo from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

After 9.5 years of writing, creating, and performing our devotional music for our community, we are excited and ready to record our debut album. We have poured so much love, joy, and energy into creating this music, and are very excited to share it with you!

Recording an album is no small feat, and requires countless hours of writing, practice, and rehearsal time, childcare and family support, expensive gear, instruments, and studio time. It also requires the expertise and collaboration of incredible musicians to help us bring these songs to life, from our living room to your earbuds.

Our music draws from the mystical prayers and writings of the Baha’i Faith. We are inspired by the messages of these Writings, urging humankind to reconcile our differences and to build communities together founded on collaboration, unity, justice, and love for one another.

Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i Faith, has said “We, verily, have made music as a ladder for your souls, a means whereby they may be lifted up unto the realm on high”. We believe that music can uplift and connect us together, and to a higher purpose. Music has truly been a healing balm and deep part of our relationship to our community life and faith. With this record, we would like to contribute to the canon of contemporary Baha’i-inspired music, and in turn, enrich the devotional character of our community.

With your generous support, we will be able to record these nine songs with a full band featuring many beloved friends and musicians from the music community here in Edmonton. These funds will cover all recording, mixing, mastering, and manufacturing costs, in addition to our album release concert - you can check out the budget breakdown below.
