Rose’s Cancer Fight & Insurance Premiums

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Emma, one of the many siblings of Rose Caves Young (formerly of Galt, California, but resident of Springfield, Missouri area for over 20 years).

In April of this year Rose told us she had found a lump in her breast. Luckily, she was able to get in for scans and appointments right away. However, the news from the oncologist wasn’t good. She was diagnosed with triple-negative, invasive ductal cancer. The triple negative part means that she was negative for the three routes they would normal take to treat breast cancer, so estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative, and HER2-negative. All of that meant it was going to be hard to treat. Add to that the fact that it was a very aggressive, rapidly-growing cancer. Between two of her scans, one lump grew by 2cm in only five days. They found lumps in her breast and lymph nodes.

Rose was quickly started on 24 weeks of chemo (two 12-week regiments) which they expect will be followed by surgery, then radiation, then immunotherapy.

She is in about week 19 now. Her body had tolerated the treatments pretty well for the first 12 weeks, considering. She had lots of side effects, but she was still able to get in a few hours of work here and there each week to cover her insurance premiums. This second twelve weeks (which is when she was started on the “red devil” infusions), however, have been extremely hard on her body. She hasn’t been able to make it in to work. She is dizzy, unsteady, has chemo fog, has chills/sweats, is struggling to eat/drink what’s needed to sustain her body, along with dozens of other side effects that she has to address daily, with new ones cropping up often.

Through this all, her worries have been about finding a way to make it to work for at least a few hours to keep her same medical insurance, to help pay for her $7,500 deductible, to pay for all the over-the-counter specialized supplements/meds she’s needed as various symptoms have arisen non-stop, and so she would at least have a little bit of income to pay her regular bills.

She’s been dealing with this for five months now. Five months. It is wearing on her physically, mentally, emotionally, when what she should be focusing on is the healing.

Through it all, her attitude has been so positive, she’s put her faith in God, she’s walked in to chemo treatments with a smiling face on the hardest of days. But it is getting harder and harder for her each day.

So, on behalf of Rose, I’m asking everyone to pray for miraculous healing for her, for any donation toward her treatment/medical expenses/deductible/bills while she’s unable to work, and to share so others can show her the love as well.

I set the goal at $2,060 which would be six months of medical premiums for her ($1,992), so she won’t have to worry that she will continue to have coverage (plus $68 to cover GoFundMe fees so she actually gets her full six months worth of coverage). I’m praying that, at a minimum, we can help her keep her same coverage. Anything above that can go toward her $7,500 deductible, OTC meds she needs, additional bills, etc., during this time since she’s only had enough income to cover insurance for a large part of five months and will likely not be able to work much in the near future. All money will go directly into Rose’s account.

Thank you for blessing her with your prayers, contributions, and by sharing. With much love from us Caves Kids ❤️❤️
