This July would have been our 10th Annual Rosella Vigliotta Golf Tournament. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we decided that we could not in good conscience hold the tournament this year. Named in honor of our grandmother who lived a life of helping others, this event has allowed family and friends (and even strangers who have become family and friends) to come together for a day of hope, love and fun, while at the same time, raising money for my sister, Meredith Gattuso, and her family. Meredith suffers from PLS, a rare upper motor neuron disease, that has led to loss of motor function, muscle spasticity and difficulty speaking and swallowing. In years past, some of the money was used to partially replace income when she could no longer work, or to help purchase necessary special equipment like her wheelchair, handicap accessible renovations at home and even a vehicle that would accommodate her wheelchair. Each year, a portion of the profit has also been donated to the SPF (Spastic Paraplegia Foundation), which does research on diseases like PLS and HSP. Because these diseases are so rare, there is little money for research, and there is no cure YET. For the last few years, our family was able to donate enough money to qualify as a “Marathoner” Sponsor for SPF. Meredith and her family are so disappointed that we will not be able to contribute to the efforts of those looking for a cure this year.
Our motto has always been HOPE. Hope for a cure, Hope for more good days than bad, Hope for the grace to be always grateful, and Hope for the ability to
Help
Other
People
Every day.
And so, whether you have been one of hundreds of our generous donors of years past (Thank you, thank you, thank you!!) or whether you’re just hearing about this cause, we ask that you contribute what you can. We know that together, we can do so much more than any one of us can do alone. God bless!
